What is this grub or larvae?

Found in my vermicomposting bin in my garden bed, some healthy red wigglers were still there but a lot of these grub things were there and I don’t know if they are a good thing or bad!

Almost positive those are black soldier fly larvae, very beneficial for composting as they'll eat decomposing organic matter much faster than worms.

Should be good teamwork where the BSFL will eat things FAST, and then the worms will do a second pass and break things down further.

Hit the magnifying glass at the top of the site and search "black soldier fly" I wrote an article about them with some photos and more info. Definitely a welcomed compost friend 😁

The flies themselves are big and look wasp-like, but are totally harmless and don't sting or bite, they just lay more eggs in compost so more larvae show up.
