Thread Created by Nicole on Aug. 28, 2025, 7:03 a.m.

I have a lot of growth thru out my whole garden but no flowering or fruits and only male flowers if any. Also all need seeds are not sprouting all of a sudden. Like nothing no matter the type or method. I don't understand why all has haulted. Please help. I've been amending my clay soil for the last four years. And this has never happened

Hi Nicole 👋 sounds like something's going on, hopefully I can help you figure it out!

When I hear few flowers and no fruit, I immediately think about phosphorus. That has the most effect on flowering and fruiting, so I wonder if you may have a phosphorus deficiency in your soil. Have you added any sources of it recently?

For the germination issue, have you used these seeds before from the same batch, or are they seeds you haven't tried before?

Hi Nicole, where are you gardening? I am in Arizona and had a very bad not so great pepper and bean season in Spring. My tomatoes grew like crazy, so many tomatoes, along with herbs, I'itoi onions, etc. I finally ended up thinking that the weather was to blame. It was a warm/cool/warm/cool spring and I don't think the peps or beans liked that, so they produced just about nothing and flowers dropped soon after forming. When the heat came all flowers dropped so that was the end of that. I'm going to let the peppers continue growing and see if I get some fall peppers. My squash, come to think of it, produced mostly male flowers and I only got two female flowers, off a Zucchini! That is really weird, or so I hear. It was my first time trying to grow them. Take my suggestion with a grain of salt, as I am a pretty new vegetable gardener. I only have two springs under my belt. However, that's where my research led me. My soil tested great, too. I was stumped.
