I've made the decision to add flowers in amongst my vegetables and herbs. I want beauty, as well as veg.
I'm also expanding my garden by an additional 6 beds (24 beds total) now and hopefullyl 6 more by the end of the year.
I'm starting the fall w/ lots of beans and squashes w/ a sprinkling of cataloupes and watermelons thrown into the mix.
Alium seeds, such as bunching onions, bulb onions, shallots, chives, and garlic, are sprouting and growing as I write. (I wish I had started them 2 months ago.)
As winter, for us, approaches I'll be transitioning the garden to brassica (broccoli, sprouting broccoli, romanesco, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, Chinese cabbage) and various other root crops (turnips, kohlrabi, & beets)
After the abject failure of this summer's garden I've decided to grow primarily sets for the garden, rather than direct seeding. This season I'll be doing some of both due to space constraints on growing sets. I'll reevaluate after spring planting.
